Having been fascinated with informative articles and creative stories, Shani Greene-Dowdell has always been an avid reader. After tossing the idea of writing a novel around with a coworker in 2005, Shani took the challenge and started her first book, Keepin' It Tight, wanting to expose some of the prejudices in relationships and pose questions that would spark interesting conversation. "What would you do if your husband's coworker became obsessed with him? What if she was an over-privleged white woman who was used to getting whatever she wanted and trampling whoever necessary to get it? What if the husband remained clueless until it was too late?

There are many men who are being stalked and don't realize it until the situation is out of control. Just the same, there are many women stalkers who do not know they have a problem. Whether it is for love, or for obsession, a lot of women find it difficult to grasp reality once they are blinded by what they want.

Keepin' It Tight (originally named Can A Sistah Have A Man) deals with a black woman struggling to keep her home intact, but if her husband doesn't wake up and smell the coffee, and soon, everything they have worked for will suffer.

On March 29 2008,  Shani Greene-Dowdell took her first stab at a steamy erotic compilation, which was titled Mocha Chocolate: Taste A Piece of Ecstasy. This uninhibited book showcases the talent of 16 authors. Each author added a different seething touch to Mocha Chocolate anthology, which according to readers has proven to be filled with enough love and passion to mend passion deprived relationships. In September 2008, Shani was announced Self Published Author of the Year in the African American Literary Award Show in Harlem, New York for her work in compiling the Mocha Chocolate anthology!

Currently, Shani is working on the release of her sophomore novel, Secrets of a Kept Woman slated to release September 1, 2009.  A story of three sisters living very different lifestyles, but are bonded at the hip by their friendship since high school. That is until one of their secrets threatens to unravel their very loving foundation. A thrilling true to life story on friendship and deceit and the power of the all mighty dollar. When one woman has it all and another envies it, anything is possible.
